I want whoever cobbled that trailer together to come work for me. I spotted footage from five different films. What film did the rolling rock come from, does anybody know? SECRET OF THE AFRICAN JUNGLE perhaps? Of course most of the footage comes from SECRET OF THE INCAS (1954), an archeological adventure shot entirely on location in South America. It's 90% melodrama and only 10% action, but the similarity to RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK is undeniable. Heston is very persuasive as the cynical adventurer Harry Steele. Steele doesn't crack a whip or engage in daredevil feats, but he does take the initiative, dress like a lion tamer, and know a lot about ancient Peru. Heston fits the role hand in glove. It's one of my favorite Heston performances. There are several memorable scenes, including an assassination attempt inspired perhaps by a similar scene in the earlier THE GUNFIGHTER (1950). I like this one better. The film isn't big, but the budget isn't small, either. The location photography in Peru is a huge benefit, and so is the Technicolor. This is one of a handful of early Heston films that Paramount has been sitting on for decades. PONY EXPRESS is another. Worth watching and keeping in your collection. Just don't expect a roller-coaster ride and you won't be disappointed.

Does anyone know how to find and post the one-sheet from SECRET OF THE INCAS here?
The IMDb listing, for those who are interested: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0047464/
