Jeff Bridges was the only interesting Oscar win last night. His connection to film noir is a bit weak but...
he was the Dude in The Big Lebowski -- a loose remake of The Big Sleep
he starred in the remake of Out of the Past -- Against All Odds
and his first movie appearance was in The Company She Keeps. Jane Greer reminded him of that fact during the shooting of Against All Odds. He went over and introduced himself to her at the beginning of shooting and she said, "We've already work together." then went on to explain that he played a kid at the train station with his brother Beau and mother in The Company She Keeps when he was less than 2 years old.

The Hurt Locker has been on my list... but yet unseen.
Crazy Heart was pretty excellent. Having Robert Duvall show up half way through was cool too.

Been a fan of Jeff's since I saw THE LAST PICTURE SHOW when it came out in the early Seventies. Never thought I'd live to see the day he'd be holding that statuette in his hand. I've enjoyed him in many things, AMERICAN HEART, STARMAN, TUCKER, Gilliam's TIDELAND and THE FISHER KING, the list goes on and on. Well, a while back i bought a dirt-cheap twofer, TRAPPED starring Lloyd Bridges among others, and THE YIN AND THE YANG OF MR. GO, a definite candidate for the worst movie ever made. Starring James Mason as YY Go, half Mexican, half Chinese, Burgess Meredith, also Chinese in the film, Broderick Crawford (!), and "introducing" Jeff Bridges as Finnegan, a would-be James Joyce. I think this public domain offering was slapped together as a father-and-son pairing. I'm glad he won the Oscar. The Dude Abides. And as for MR. GO, I wouldn't recommend it. Unless you take a perverse delight in watching deliciously awful films.

I was glad to see Jeff Bridges win after all these years. A relatively unheralded performance of his is in Wild Bill, a Western with some very noir elements woven into it.
That's a great story about The Company She Keeps and, of course, there is the noir link with his Dad, Lloyd, not only in Trapped but also in Try And Get Me and briefly in Moonrise.

Another couple of Bridges titles which I love are 'Cutter And Bone' and 'Jagged Edge'. Both are neo's
from the 80s and both are solid (imo).
And, I still say that 'Against All Odds' is a good film..(!)

Ditto on Jagged Edge.
