I'm usually skeptical of sweeping statements about the state of movies today or in the past, particularly when the Oscars are involved. If the success of Hurt Locker prompts more distributors to take a closer look at affecting movies that appear to be a hard sell to audiences, then I guess that's a good thing, but I doubt there's much else that's going to come out of it. Complaining about how much money the Transformers movies rake in isn't going to change anything either.
