This 1947 film has just been given a Spanish release - my question is as I don't know anything about it is:

Is it a film noir and is it good?

I saw this film last year at Noir City 7. As I recall, I liked it, but the most memorable thing about it is Raymond Burr's spectacular death scene at the end. ( I guess I can't say what it is without giving the story away.)

It's very good. A little slack in the middle but the ending got a huge applause at Noir City.

Definitely a good one. Noir stalwart character actor Steve Brodie gets a rare chance at a leading role and he acquits himself nicely. Burr also is terrific and so is the shadowy cinematography.

What these other guys said. It's a bit primitive, compared to what Anthony Mann would do in his subsequent noir efforts, but it's a strong visual and thematic example of the post-war noir.
