Hello everyone,
I am trying to locate a particular film, which I believe may be a part of the noir canon. Perhaps someone here can help-I've decided to seek the assistance of knowledgeable noirphiles to hopefully uncover this shadowy mystery.

Unfortunately, the title of the film in unkonwn to me, and all that I have to offer is a description of one of the scenes. It depicts what appears to be the upper floor of an older style hotel, with a staircase leading up to it. There are a group of men, who I believe are gangsters who are breaking into the rooms, and they eventually locate a man within in them, and they proceed to beat him viciously outside of the doorway. The scene does not have any dialogue whatsoever, and contains a number of close-ups and images of weapons, doors, fists, etc, and lasts a fairly long time ie...two minutes or more. This is a black and white noir and I believe it is from the classic period, although it is possible it may be a proto noir in the style of Fury, etc...

I am quite knowledgeable regarding all things noir, but I saw this one scene in this film on TCM, and simply have not been able to uncover the film in which it occurs. Any suggestions or insight would be greatly appreciated.

My guess would be "The Sound of Fury" (aka Try and Get Me) released in 1950 and starring Frank Lovejoy and Lloyd Bridges.

Definitely not Try and Get Me which I saw last week - maybe the Killers?
