One of my favorite underrated neo-noir's. Looking forward to your review.
Like the recently discussed "Leave Her to Heaven," this also looks great in Bluray. For fans, it's a great upgrade at a reasonable price.
And an excellent film; one of my favorites!
A couple more to consider, Lenny (about comedian Lenny Bruce), and Clerks which is pretty funny.
Recently returned from a vacation that afforded the opportunity for some reading. A modest library was available that had a title that may be familiar to many of you. For those for whom it may not...
Pre-orders are being taken for the blu-ray version of Leave Her To Heaven at Screen Archives. Might be a little high at $29.95, but I do love this film and Gene Tierney's icy portrayal of Ellen, a...
You are correct Rick in what you remember reading. The city of Bridgeport was indeed very sensitive to this murder and felt that Stamford took advantage of Bridgeport's tragedy for their own gain...
I don't think this has been posted yet and would suggest you visit "The Professor's" site http://wheredangerlives.blogspot.com to read and download (PDF) his latest offering of the very first copy of...
Armored Car Robbery for sure. A year or so after Criss-Cross and probably suffering from any similarity. A good cast, not as classic a noir, but a film I enjoyed.
A John Garfield mini-festival. For all the Garfield fans here, TCM has 6 consecutive films starting at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning.
No noir here, but hey, it's Garfield.
All times are EST.

While it may not be the film your friend is thinking of and is not an older film or B&W, didn't they have a monkey drug courier in Hangover 2 that did those things?
A great writer who was called on to help save many a screenplay.
Recently received an email from this site and was interested in the Bogart woodcut, but they were out of stock. Just might go with Peter Lorre.
Often recognized more for their writing, those nominated for Best Screenplay include Laura, The Killers, The Strange Love of Martha Ivers, and a few more.
Ronald Colman won Best Actor for A Double...
If you remember, we are not that far apart, maybe 40 minutes or so. If you still have this offer open come Spring, the meeting story would easily be worth a few beers to me. I'd love to hear it!
As a lover of most things "Hope" this was a good reminder of a film that I have not watched in a long time. Time to enjoy another look.
How about Raymond Burr's pending plastic surgery in noir "wannabe" His Kind of Woman?
How about Union Station, and Human Desire? One more, Lady on a Train.
No apology necessary John. I realize that it is not a very good film, but it is one that is part of a group of juvenile delinquent films that I thought were fun to watch in my early teens.
Others,...
This film is a guilty pleasure of mine even if Cassavetes was a little too old for his role.
Hadn't been aware of any rights issues and will keep my fingers crossed that they can be resolved at some point.
Joe, I couldn't agree more. This is an excellent film with noir visuals and mood to spare. It ranks right there with another Klaus Kinski favorite, Aguirre The Wrath of God.
They do indeed! In fact, One took place at the end of October. I believe some of the films included The Lady From Shanghai, This Gun For Hire, and The Breaking Point.
To the best of my knowledge,...
The film had to look great on the big screen. One of these years, the sooner the better as I'm not getting any younger, I have to get to a Noir City Festival. Would love to make one in San Francisco,...
All of the above mentioned films plus The Devil Thumbs A Ride.
