Yes, when I saw it too. My error on this.
Also remade as J'ai épousé une ombre aka I Married a Dead Man (1982), a French version directed by Robin Davis and starring Nathalie Baye.
I've read Coover's The Universal Baseball Association, Inc., J. Henry Waugh, Prop. (1968) several times. It's one of my favorite books. Now I have to get my hands on Noir. And find out what...
Just got it, but haven't started it yet.
Two obscure films.
The Hangman Waits (47 UK) Very low budget and clumsily made, but a very dark newspaperish noir.
Zero Hour Society (66 Greece) Not much more of a budget, but better done...
Two films from Spain:
Rififí en la ciudad (1963). Corrupt, narcissistic businessman (Jean Servais) runs for the senate in an unnamed Central American country; has a police informer killed; is...
Du Rififi à Paname/The Upper Hand (66 France) Jean Gabin & George Raft fight to the finish.
Max and the Junkmen/Max et les ferrailleurs (71 France) Michel Piccoli & Romy Schneider. Max (Piccoli),...
The Wild, Wild Rose (1960), a musical, melodramatic noir from Hong Kong, based on Bizet's Carmen.
I posted a shorter version of this on BAN a while ago. I just posted this at the St Clair Cinema Club in Detroit.

20,000 Eyes (1961). Ultra low-budget proto-neo-noir. Perhaps the missing link between noir and neo. Has Roger Corman fave Bruno Ve Sota as a pipe-smoking Tchaikovsky-loving museum nightwatchman....

I agree with Steve-O. I believe there is a a legitimate category of comic noir, but this was too light for me to consider it even that. And I tend to be pretty open in what I regard as noir.
The Kneeling Goddess aka La diosa arrodillada 1947 Mexican gothic noir with some musical numbers.
False Faces (1943). Mostly a little known cast except for Veda Ann Borg, but she buys it early on, and the rest of the movie is about whether the DA's son was the perp.
Killing Them Softly (2012) I don't know what the point of this film was, boring characters talking, whining, and/or killing. Hard and soft. I didn't care about any of them. There was neither a...
Love Crime (2011 France)
Descente aux enfers (1986 France) based on the David Goodis novel, The Wounded and the Slain. Good thing I read the book since the video I watched had no subtitles.
It was interesting to watch Anthony Mann's The Tall Target and The Black Book/Reign of Terror as a double feature. It's not much of a stretch to think of both events (an early, unsuccessful...
I've also seen the 1939 French version: Le dernier tournant. It's actually the first screen adaptation. It gets a 6.9 on IMDb. It's hard to say which one I liked best, but I liked the 1981 version...
No Way Back (49 UK). An on-his-way down prizefighter has to quit the ring because he lost the sight in one eye while losing the fight. He also loses his wife (or girlfriend, I'm not sure) who doesn't...
Moss Rose begins and ends on a train, though not central to the plot.
The Sleeping Car Murders/Compartiment tueurs (1965 France) Directed by Costa-Gavras
Night Train for Inverness (1960 UK)
Night Train (1959 Poland)
Voyage without Hope/Voyage sans espoir. 1943 French noir/poetic realism hybrid with a youthful Jean Marais and a luminous Simone Renant. While it contained distinctly overt racism not usually...
Winter's Bone by Daniel Woodrell. A great source novel for a great film. The protagonist, Ree Dolly, (played by the ultra-talented Jennifer Lawrence in the movie) is an amazing, yet completely...
