The film features no guns, and any acts of violence are few and far between. Even Elisha Cook Jr. manages to make it through the entire film without getting offed—a truly rare occurrence. Yet Don’t...
I wasn't trying to be snarky, so I'm sorry if it came across that way. I just thought that, more than anything else, it was kind of funny that the last several posts in the thread were almost all...
Scroll up about five posts.
She actually made several other films with Tom Neal. If you want a great read about why her career didn't take off after Detour (and why it's so hard to find her in other good roles), check out the...
I'm another member of the under 30 crowd, (hopefully) keeping noir alive for generations to come.
DVDbeaver review of Loophole is up: link. The transfer looks quite strong.
FYI -- the site has returned most of the titles from the beta. We're back to about a dozen noirs, including Flamingo Road (1949), which is not available as a stand-alone DVD (only in a box set). Most...
This is great news. I thought TCM was done with these sets after the third one, but I guess it sold well enough to merit a fourth. I'm especially excited about Johnny O'Clock and Between Midnight and...
Here's a look at the cover art for Niagara:
2095
Release date is July 30.
Apparently, Scott was completely soused throughout the entire shoot, which kind of explains his performance.
This film looks like it would be enjoyable only if these three guys were providing commentary:

Probably either Pi or Good Night, and Good Luck. I really enjoyed The Artist, too. In comedy, you can't beat Young Frankenstein.
You know, Macdonald really doesn't get enough credit for his Archer novels. I thought The Drowning Pool was fantastic. He's never mentioned as being in the same league as Hammett, Chandler, and Cain,...
The Foxconnect.com exclusive, The Elia Kazan Collection, Volume I, which includes both Boomerang! (1947) and Panic in the Streets (1950), can be purchased at a significant discount through April 19....
It is 1.85.1. Olive will most likely either use that AR or open it up a bit to 1.78.1 (aka 16.9), like they've done with other 1.85.1 films like Private Hell 36 (1954). I'm fine either way, as the...
That film is one of my favorites. The noir box set it comes in is worth it for that film alone.
I was just doing some research on Ulmer, and he did indeed write Apology for Murder (1945), albeit uncredited. Neufield toyed around with calling it Single Indemnity, more as a joke than anything...
Apparently, a remake of Orson Welles' The Stranger (1945) is in pre-production. I just saw this story about the film's casting: link.
Warner Archive is releasing some interesting titles soon.

Forbidden Hollywood, Volume 7:...
A few titles? Try a few hundred--and that's not an exaggeration. The beta had about 400 titles, and the site had just over 100 when it launched. I'm glad they are going to have closed captioning, but...
Ah, The Thief. I hated that movie so much. I probably didn't remember it because I tried to wipe it from my memory.
What are some films that feature either an A-bomb or an H-bomb as a plot device? I can think of three: The Atomic City (1952), Split Second (1953) and the obvious one, Kiss Me Deadly (1955). But I'm...
Review of the French blu-ray release of Violent Saturday (1955) is up at blu-ray.com: link. It looks really great. A big improvement over the non-anamorphic DVD from Twilight Time.
This is really sad news. In general, I liked his take on films. And his commentary track on Citizen Kane (1941) should be the measuring stick by which all other commentary tracks are evaluated.
