One of my favorites!
What a great actor, and a great man!
At the time of his death, I had only begun appreciating his work.
«There's nothing to square, you're my pal!» -- with that scary smile.
Greatly missed, but we...
I say wow!
This is soooooooo go news.
I even saw it on amazon CANADA, so it'll be well distributed, it seems.
Gonna buy it for sure. Thank you!!!
Indeed she is!
You're not alone in that club!
could it be Ella Rains?
Like the best actors, he didn't really die of course. How young I tend to think of him, with his kind of angel face.
I was thinking, he was at his best when playing in duos, like the ones with Burt...
Although Vertigo, Rear Window and Psycho are just as good. But I watched North by Northwest like a dozen times, it's music to me: the more you watch it the more you love it.
I have to admit I didn't...
Seen it a couple of years ago and liked it very much. Funny and a technical "tour de force" also. Love Steve Martin; he deserves to be taken "seriously". Gonna watch it again soon (but after I watch...
... when your favorite scene in Toy Story 3 is when the clown tells his sad story in flashback.
I just received my Film Noir Classics II, from Columbia. Haven't watched it yet, but it's nicely done, on the same model as set #I. I pretty much like the image of the lady with the vinyl records...
I think I remember the name of the dog was "Pard"

I voted Harry Powell, but I liked Tommy Udo and Slim Dundee very much (great actors too).
Thanks for the poll!
D.O.A., Detour, The Stranger, classic PD stuff.
There's a page on Wikipedia called "Color film noir" (I like to do things the easy way).
There's a couple of films there that may be added here:
1956 Accused of Murder (unknown to me, but written...
OK, here's my top 5 (in no particular order):
Anthony Mann
Robert Siodmak
Billy Wilder
Fritz Lang
Edward Dmytryk
The Killing, indeed, although I can't tell wich car model it is.
John Farrow? (I know, you couldn't put them all in)
I just can't vote!
Would it be Fritz Lang? Billy Wilder? Anthony Mann, maybe? Or Robert Wise? And why not Edward Dmytryk or Robert Siodmak?
No, I can't decide.
You could try HOTSPOT SHIELD. I use it from Canada, to "pretend" I come from USA. I'm no techie either, but from what I understood, it hides your ip adress "behind" a usa adress. It worked many times...
Thanks, Ashirg, I guess I'll do as you, buy 4th ed & keep my 3rd ed. Those appendices can be very useful sometimes — no appendix on Baseball noir? ;-)
Thank you again,
Stephane
I have the before-last edition of this excellent book. It would be fun to have it compared with the newer one; if someone with both editions can do the comparison and post it here that would be...
