Talking What are the best Noirs >NOT< available on DVD?

Hi gang, i've pretty much seen everything I want to see noir wise that have been released on DVD, so I'm wondering what are the best Film Noirs that have not been released on DVD, the plan is obviously to hunt them down by fair means or foul. So thanks in advance.

    Dan.

Good idea for a thread. I think WB has been planning but has never released The Breaking Point on DVD.

Not "best" but I'd love to have The Brasher Doubloon with the commentary track Eddie Muller did for an aborted release.

Without including those available on VHS, but not yet on DVD, or those not available in Region 1, a few come to mind:
    The Devil Thumbs a Ride - 1947
To The Ends of the Earth - 1948
    Black Tuesday - 1954

Murder, My Sweet (1944) and Cornered (1945) are both available on DVD now, but I'd like to see all of Dick Powell's noirs made available (some were already mentioned above):

    Johnny O'Clock (1947)
To the Ends of the Earth (1948)
    Pitfall (1948)
    Station West (1948)
    Cry Danger (1951)

I haven't seen Rogues' Regiment (1948) or Right Cross (1950). Are they noirs?

The Tall Target (1951) is available as part of the WB Archive Collection, but like other DVDs in that series, it's not cheap, and there aren't any special features.

Both CRASHOUT and THE SOUND OF FURY came out on VHS around 1990, but they deserve a DVD release. They are both outstanding, imo. Once THE SOUND OF FURY is restored and shown at next year's Noir City, one would hope that a DVD release with a commentary track would be forthcoming.

While I can't say all are great, they each have something that, for me, makes them worth adding to my film collection.

    Shakedown - 1950
Cry Danger, as Keith and Adam have mentioned - 1951
    Dark Mirror - 1946
Desert Fury, though probably more of a crime drama than noir - 1947
He Ran All The Way - 1951
    711 Ocean Drive - 1950
    Moonrise - 1948
The Trap, late in the noir era, but I enjoy Richard Widmark - 1959
The Burgler, which many of us are waiting for - 1957
The Killer is Loose - 1956
    Framed - 1947
Crashout, one I wish I could have seen at Noir City; I'll get there one of these years - 1955
    Black Tuesday - 1954
    Loophole - 1954
    I Walk Alone - 1948
    Murder By Contract - 1958

This is my wish list. To the best of my knowledge, some are on VHS, some available on NetFlix, and some currently unavailable. Again, they are not all "great," but are worthy additions to any noir collection.

Most have been discussed on this forum or Steve's Noir of the Week site. The more I read around here, the longer the list gets.

A film I want to see get a proper DVD release is The Big Combo (1955). While it has been released as a public domain, I want to see it restored in it's proper aspect ratio. It was one of the first noir films I've seen with Double Indemnity and Detour.

Off the top of my head, I can tell you that "Murder By Contract" is out on DVD, as part on Sony's Film Noir Volume One set...and "711 Ocean Drive" was recently released on DVD through Sony Screen Classics.

Just received four dvdrs in the post

    Pitfall,
    Cry Danger,
    Larceny, and
    I Walk Alone.

Never seen any of them before so I'm really looking forwards to them.

(ps when the FNF release Cry Danger I'll will of course buy a legit copy to support the FNF good work)

Did FNF ever say there is going to be a DVD release of Cry Danger? People had mentioned that it was, and reference The Prowler DVD. But the extras mention the preservation work, not a DVD release. Eddie M. has mentioned it along with other titles that he would like to see released. Just wandering if it really is coming out,or just a hope before we all must hope that some streaming site (Netflix), don't remove it.

Cry Danger will be the next FNF DVD release. Who's going to put it out or when is anyone's guess!

I'm cool with that just never read or heard a definitive answer anywhere.

I want to second an earlier post for "Ride the Pink Horse".

Unfortunaly I believe that is owned by Universal, so odds are slim to never, and slim left town.

Some of these are currently available outside of R1 and some were previously available on VHS, but here's my list of the most desirable MIA noirs in R1:

    The Blue Dahlia (1946)
    The Breaking Point (1950)
    Conflict (1945)
    Cry Danger (1951)
    Cry of the City (1948)
    The Dark Mirror (1946)
The File on Thelma Jordan (1950)
He Ran All the Way (1951)
    I Walk Alone (1948)
    M (1951)
    Moonrise (1948)
    Phantom Lady (1944)
    Pitfall (1948)
    Ride the Pink Horse (1947)
    The Sound of Fury (1950)
