anyone else see this one? A television producer tries to track down an aging movie star for his Morning news show. The star disappeared after a promising start. The girl turns out to be... Gloria Grahame!
Although the film calls her something else... it's clearly her. The film is chock full of cameos from 40s/50s film stars (Walter Pigeon looking dignified in his old age... Ralph Meeker looking puffy... Van Johnston looks the same). It's a TV movie and plays like that however I found I could get past it and enjoy a clear tribute to noir (with some great voice overs too). John Ireland and Yvonne DeCarlo are in it too and at the time seem to be able to give strong performances. Nice to see a bunch of clips from Human Desire and In a Lonely Place too (possibly The Big Heat.)
If you can get past the TV look of the movie; and Don Murray alternating between being a "detective" searching for a love he's only seen in pictures (ala Laura) and some 70s swinger you'll probably like it.
