I did The Pretender as a Noir of the Week a year or two ago....
I've always sort of gravitated towards the more obscure noir films, my list would include:
Follow Me Quietly
The Tattooed Stranger
Hunt the Man Down
Between Midnight and Dawn
Mark Stevens: Timetable and Cry Vengeance
Black Tuesday!!!
Guilty Bystander
99 River Street
Outrage
Plunder Road!!!
and The Breaking Point, with John Garfield. One of the best films of the period, regardless of style / genre. Spectacularly good. It was extremely rare until TCM finally aired it earlier this year. I purchased a copy from a dealer in Europe (Rarephiled) a number of years ago just to see it.
Like some others, I also really like The File on Thelma Jordan. That cigarette lighter is fantastic!
My homemade noir DVD collection includes over 700 titles, and is still growing. (Unholy Wife on TCM yesterday, hooray!) If someone is truly desperate to see a particular film, let me know and I'll see if I can help.

hi professor, i too gravitate towards the obscure noir films, i loved "the breaking point" and had never saw it till i recorded it off TCM.... i too have a homemade collection (not as many as you)... my main interests are late 40's to late 50's noir, crime noir(B&W only), (no britt, no offence to those who like them)... 30's 40's 50's gangster, crime (B&W only)... send me a PM or e-mail, i'd love to see your list, maybe we can trade a few. ... i also like western noir from late 40's to late 50's(B&W only).... thanks
I love, love, love Albert Decker! The scene in THE PRETENDER when he's eating canned food in his closet, is one of the greatest moments in noir cinema.
Well, then you're in luck. Here's some new information on this film from the Warner Archive Facebook page, straight from the horse's mouth:
"We do own HUNT THE MAN DOWN. Remastering is required, and it isn't in the queue at the moment, but a release in the future is likely."
This thread seems like it's run its course, but I just have to add my two cents. I recently had a chance to see "Among the Living" and am now foaming at the mouth to catch "The Pretender". I have also been dying to see "The File on Thelma Jordan" for years, so that would be on my list. Kudos to previous mentions of "The Story of Molly X" (bless you Noir City for introducing me to this June Havoc awesome-ness) and "99 River Street" (Evelyn Keyes doing her dance-- wow). I also have to give a shout out to the pulpy fun of "Larceny" ("If she's your sister then I'm a boa constrictor in heels"--Shelley Winters), "The Reckless Moment", "Pitfall", "Armored Car Robbery", "Private Hell 36" and "Repeat Performance".
dameintherain:
You have some great taste! The File on Thelma Jordan is worth the wait too, btw.
Hell's Half Acre (1954) with Wendell Corey, Evelyn Keyes, Marie Windsor, Jesse White, and Elsa Lancaster.
I'm going to add Riff-Raff (1947) to the list. It doesn't seem like anyone really talks about this film anymore, but I just saw it on VHS (since it has yet to appear anywhere on DVD), and I thought it was great.
The Window with Bobby Driscoll, Barbara Hale, Paul Stewart, Ruth Roman, and Arthur Kennedy is worth a gander.
