    Default The Death of Celluloid?

Here's a great article breaking down how physical film prints are getting pushed aside for their digital counterparts, and what it means about the future of film preservation: http://www.avclub.com/articles/sweet...matters,65503/

This is a trend I'm definitely not crazy about. Thoughts from everyone else?

Media evolve and change, and there's not much any of us can do about it. I generally prefer analog over digital, but I recognize all of the advantages of digital. I have a huge vinyl collection and still buy records in second-hand shops, but I'm grateful for digital music media, too, since vinyl's just not that portable.

The most troubling prospect the article brings up is the possibility of the dwindling availability of prints of classic films for repertory houses. Scott Tobias is right when he says that repertory theaters are "at the heart of film culture, film history, and film preservation."
