    Default Upcoming Noir Blu-rays

Since it seems that we have several noirs coming out on BD in the near future, I thought it might be nice for them to have their own thread apart from the "Upcoming Noir DVDs" section. So if you have news about upcoming noir blu-ray releases, please post them here.

To get us started, here's a list of many of the upcoming blu-ray releases already mentioned in the DVD thread:

The Big Heat (1953) on May 8: http://www.screenarchives.com/title_...953-PRE-ORDER/

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) on July 17: http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=8607

They Made Me A Fugitive (1947) on July 24: http://classicflix.blogspot.co.uk/20...lu-ray-in.html

Body and Soul (1947) on July 30: http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=8656

Force of Evil (1948) on July 30: http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=8656

Sunset Boulevard (1950) in November: http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=198876

Can someone explain to my why so many great classics are out on Region B UK and European blu rays and not Region A? Great examples are "Touch of Evil", Rififi, Lifeboat; Sabrina, Double Indemnity, Quatermass and the Pit. And the solution isn't just an expensive all region blu ray player. Why don't the studios have more respect and consideration for Western Hemisphere classic film buffs.

Multi region is a must for blu ray And DVD I'm afraid, region locking is nine times out of ten due to licensing issues of who owns the movie rights in each territories.

http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=195713 'Odd Man Out' hits the UK in June.

'Strangers on a Train' http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=195713 no release date yet.

Everyone is aware that Kino have released Scarlett Street on Blu the other month, right?

This is exactly right. The region locking protects distribution rights and also offers some protection against piracy.

And it's looks very good. Well worth the upgrade. Listed for just over $16. on Deep Discount.

DVDBeaver review of The Red House (1947) is up. There's some serious DNR going on here, but it's still an upgrade over any of the currently available DVD releases. It's listed for only $12.99 at amazon.com for the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack, which is certainly not a bad price.

I just watched it this weekend. A fabulous film and blu ray to match.

I think I might actually pick this up. Looks promising looking at the stills (and it's a good EG Robinson noir)... but I'm not thrilled that it's been brightened.

Edit: Bill Hare does the commentary! Damn... he's one of us! Bill's done many Noir of the Week articles here.

I watched this over the weekend. I think it is a little bit of a double edged sword. It is the best home video release for this movie, but (you know where this is going) as for a Bluray it is very disappointing. It does seem brighter and is defiantly scrubbed with DNR. If you love the movie and want the best version pick it up, just don't have your sights too high.

Olive Films will be releasing the western noir Pursued (1947)

It has an August date, but no week is stated yet.

I hope it is an improved transfer over the previous DVD, that transfer had some issue.

Wow! I didn't think we'd see this film get the blu-ray treatment. It's going to be in its correct 1.85.1 aspect ratio, too. Great news. Thanks for sharing.

    P.S. - I'm digging this cover art:

I hope folks re-discover Megan Abbott's Noir of the Week on Private Hell 36 when the Blue Ray DVD drops.

Olive Films has now announced September 4th releases, in both DVD and Blu, of Lang's SECRET BEYOND THE DOOR, Siodmak's THE DARK MIRROR, and Edmund O'Brien's MAN-TRAP.

Also, according to IMDB (not the most reliable source, I know), Olive now has the rights to Frank Borzage's MOONRISE!

Whoa! This is great news. Olive Films is finally doing what no one else would do in the past -- buy the licensing rights to the Republic library and then actually do something with them! I'm noticing that they're also starting to speed up their number of releases per year, which is a good sign. Olive is quickly becoming my new favorite DVD/Blu-ray distributor.

And yes -- Olive does have the rights to Moonrise (1948), since it was a Republic release.

I was just coming here to post this. So exciting. Secret Beyond the Door is one of my favorites and I really like The Dark Mirror too. Looking forward to checking out Man-Trap.

Olive is really kicking ass lately.

they are kicking ass! Man-Trap was NOTW years back (by David). It's very good... you're classic Double Indemnity-type noir...

There's been some question as to whether or not MOONRISE is still part of the Republic library, which is why I'm not completely convinced that IMDB is right. I certainly hope it's true, though!
