The person quoted here has so far been a reliable source for info re Olive:

These films were at one time or another listed as future Olive releases. All of them have been removed from their release schedule.

    Fear is the Key (1972)
    The Long Day's Dying (1968)
    Macaroni (1985)
    Promise Her Anything (1965)
The Proud and the Profane (1956)
    The Savage (1952)
    The Savage Innocents (1960)
    Shanks (1974)
    The Turning Point (1952)
    Warpath (1951)

I heard that they were all cancelled because the film elements that were available were not acceptable.
Nothing essential on the list as far as I'm concerned, though I would probably have picked up THE TURNING POINT if it were to have been released. Any disappointment I may feel about its non-appearance is more than made up for by PRIVATE HELL 36, THE DARK MIRROR, SECRET BEYOND THE DOOR, and MY SON JOHN! (Welles' MACBETH too, even though I have the R2 release.)

I'm disappointed that "The Turning Point" with William Holden is being cancelled. That is a fabulous movie

Does anyone know if "Touch of Evi" is planned for a Region A release?

Agreed. The only cancellation that disappoints me is The Turning Point. I'd much rather have the films you mentioned that are actually getting released.

Nope. The ball is in Universal's court -- and we all know what that means.

Robert Altmans 'The Long Goodbye' coming to blu ray, in France, in October. No further details yet. Not to everyone's taste I know but I love it.

Suddenly is the next public domain title to be released on blu-ray on September 25 from folks who brought us Red House, Kansas City Confidential, The Stranger and The Strange Love of Martha Ivers...

Well, even though HD Cinema Classics is known for their extreme DNR scrubbing, it's still bound to be better than any of the DVD releases, none of which look better than mediocre.

Agreed. All previous releases of "Sudddenly" are public domain. So hopefully Film Chest's release should be the best of the lot. I wonder what else they are working on?

DVDBeaver review of Private Hell 36 is up: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film4/blu-r...36_blu-ray.htm.

It looks okay. Not Olive's greatest release, but still a welcome addition, especially on blu.

New upcoming 50th-anniversay R2 release of Orson Welles' THE TRIAL, a film which, while admittedly not noir, does at least invoke a sort of noirish fatalism:

Yeah, and the remake seems to have the good aspect ratio too.

Sweet! Thanks for posting this. I actually e-mailed them not too long ago and requested that they consider putting out noir box sets. I already have some of these Olive releases, but this will be a definite buy from me, especially since this will be the first time that any of these films have been released on blu-ray.

that is sweet. I even forgive them for calling Rope of Sand film noir... lol.
