Thanks Steve for this trailer. Conte is a noir stalwart, he could do anything. The first film noir I watched him in was The Big Combo and I figured he was a perfect villain. But he also could be a hero. anti-hero, fall guy. I also recently watched The Sleeping City, a good one. Some others: Call Northside 777, Thieves' Highway, The Raging Tide, Under The Gun, Somewhere In The Night, Cry of The City, Highway Dragnet, and later on, The Godfather. He also was great in the war flick A Walk In the Sun (with Dana Andrews, Lloyd Bridges, Huntz Hall). Always reliable, interesting, and sometimes compelling. I've yet to see New York Confidential and only know it by its reputation. Now if I could only make it to LA for that showing........
    Happy Century RC!

Richard Conte was Great in this Untouchables Episode. The Organization(1961)Arnie Seeger(Richard Conte)in partnership with New York Crime Czar,Pete Kulak(Oscar Beregi JR)plan to go coast to coast with Gambling,Drugs,Prostitution, etc
Fresh out of the pen is Maxie(Milton Selzer)who finds his trashy wife,Roxie(Susan Oliver)is now Arnies mistress. In anger,Maxie goes to Elliot Ness(Robert Stack)
When information is leaked to Ness,Roxie is suspected of being the leak and is ordered by Kulak to be killed or he wants nothing to do with Seeger.
    Great Episode
Another Untouchables Episode with RC was The Chess Game(1962)not as good.

Fantastic actor. He's slime on a stick in the Big Combo.

By sheer coincidence I watched The Brothers Rico yesterday. Conte is very good as a controlled man in a film of suppressed violence. I agree that he's "Always reliable, interesting, and sometimes compelling." He could convey strength, as in Big Combo, but also a tortured angst in many other films.
