    Default Terribly Happy ('10)

I just finished this moody, engrossing, Danish noir that recalls the Coens and Aki Kaurasmaki.
I really dug it, and the experience was extra-cool because it came in the form of a cheap
bootleg ($5) I picked up without having heard of it.

A young, taciturn cop is banished from Copenhagen to a rural backwater following an unnamed
event, to enforce the law - which doesn't seem to be as important to the denizens as order.
Secrets bubble up, tensions simmer, and our haunted hero is almost immediately thrust into
a domestic disturbance that threatens to rock the edgy community.

    Well worth a look.

    Default Terribly Happy (2008/10)

Danish film noir is not exactly an overworked genre, so Henrik Ruben Genz’s brilliant film noir, “Terribly Happy” is a welcome addition. It features Jakob Cedergren as a Copenhagen police detective who transfers to a small town after a nervous breakdown.

A local femme fatale (Lene Maria Christensen), who’s married to a monster, flirts with him and seeks to weave him into her twisted web. Above all, she wants him to protect her against her abusive husband. One night, our hero finds her beaten to a pulp - but then odd things begin to happen...........there's also a murder that needs to be investigated......and Jakob's on-off relationship with his daughter, which - being Danish - is causing him angst......
