    Default retro -noir lingerie

A note for the ladies here who go to film noir screenings in period dress.

While looking for stills to illustrate my review of Robert Aldrich's KISS ME DEADLY (1955), I came across this British clothing company that makes period lingerie for women. Be advised there are some scantily clad models, so youngsters like Steve-O should wait a few years:

    Wiseguy.

No, I can't find the stills I want. I need to figure out how to make screen captures that correspond to my essay.

As a resident BAN female who collects and wears vintage clothes on a regular basis... lemme tell ya how hard it is to find a decent pair of seamed stockings these days! It's quite demoralizing to spend ~$30 on a pair of stockings, only to demolish them with one night's dancing.

Seriously, they were called foundation garments for a reason. Getting dressed in a vintage cocktail dress is a little like building something from the ground up! I heard Christina Hendricks from Mad Men complaining about sitting around all day in her underthings, but I have never been really uncomfortable with it. It's a different experience, for sure, but I quite like it. You just move differently (in a good way) when you're dressed like that.

Truly, I think there is something to be said for the sensuality of the ritual of putting on (and taking off!) this kind of lingerie.

Okay, I'll step off my vintage soapbox... let's all get back to ogling!

I'm still trying to figure out how Joan got it on in the back alley this week with all those underthings... but it's fun to think about. And then they throw in a scene showing Joan getting visited by two Swedish woman for a massage. God I love Mad Men.

Ladies, since the original posting, Kiss Me Deadly has added a lot of new underthings including Retro Harnesses and Vargas Girdles.

Check out this season's new line:
