The Big Bang (2011)

The new Antonio Banderas movie, which also stars Sienna Guillory looks like it could set a few hairs on end. Entitled The Big Bang, the story concerns a private detective who is hired to find a missing stripper.

The story, unfortunately, becomes complicated when everyone he talks to seems to end up dead. Amongst the characters he must contend with, there are a Russian Boxer, some LA detectives, a billionaire amateur scientist looking for the Big Bang - and of course his stonkingly good-looking wife.

Ten people will die in the movie and there are $30m to play for - so it looks like one helluva ride. But will Antonio find The Big Bang he so desperately seeks?

Something struck me about this movie when I saw it recently. It opens with a blindfolded detective telling his story to another couple of men, then moves to a flashback with the detective in his office at night. He sees a reflection in the window, and it's a big guy in the room wanting to hire him to find a woman. From there, they go to a club to find a lead about her.

Now, as well as being the opening section of The Big Bang, that could of course also be describing Murder, My Sweet. The story does head off in different directions from there, but from the closeness of that opening, there's obviously a big tip of the hat going on there. I did enjoy watching it, too.
