Melbourne-based photo-artist Helen McLean is currently carving out a name for herself as the film noir pin-up artist par excellence.

I'm currently enjoying her Notorious Dames calendar which you can still order from here:

“It’s exciting to transform women into pin-up starlets, styling their hair and make-up, co-ordinating their wardrobe and props, to leave them with a set of images they are proud to show off,” says Helen, who has produced covers for magazines such as Deadbeat and Femme Fatale.

Helen has always had the photographic bug ever since a young child. “I would make clothes for my Barbies using mum’s industrial sewing machine, dress them up, put ‘em into position a la Vogue magazine, and shoot away,” she explains.
