For me, Ohio born Robert McGinnis epitomises the sophisticated spy noir of the sixties with pulp covers such as this:



McGinnis started working at Dell in 1958 and added to his repertoire with a good deal of magazine work. His portfolio now runs to over 1200 illustrations. He drew many of the covers for James Bond and Matt Helm stories.



More recently, he has found a new lease of life illustrating for the Hard Case Crime paperback series.
